Surfing in Icacos Beach, Juluchuca Mexico

Don Fortino Villas, Camping & RV Park, is located in Juluchuca, near to Playa Icacos in Mexico. Big big waves. You have not made it as a world class surfer if you have not made it on the Playa Icacos Juluchuca. It is a place truly blessed with top quality waves and swell. The location of its breaks makes surfing a fantastic spectator sport. Pipeline seems to breaks right off the beach, its almost like you are in the line up. Respect has to be earned. A surf trip to Icacos Beach will be better spent away from Mexico as there are no shortage of spots and less crowding elsewhere. It is a fantastic place for a surf vacation or regular holiday, and although not the place for the novice surfer it is still a great place to visit just for the spectacle of surfing.

What is Surfing Sport?

Surfing refers to a person riding down a wave and thereby gathering speed from the downward movement. Most commonly, the term is used for a surface water sport in which the person surfing is carried along the face of a breaking ocean wave (the "surf") standing on a surfboard.

Surfboards can also be used on rivers on standing waves. Both are sometimes called stand-up surfing, to distinguish it from bodyboarding, in which the individual riding the wave does not stand up on the board and only partly raises his upper body from the board.

Surfing can be done on various pieces of equipment, including surfboards, bodyboards, wave skis, kneeboards and surf mat.

Surfboards were originally made of solid wood and were generally quite large and heavy (often up to 12 feet (3.7 m) long and 100 pounds / 45 kg). Lighter balsa wood surfboards (first made in the late 1940s and early 1950s) were a significant improvement, not only in portability, but also in increasing maneuverability on the wave.
